HARRISBURG - Twenty-five state troopers have been reassigned to duty in the Marcellus Shale drilling region in Northeast Pennsylvania over the past two years in response to population growth and a corresponding increase in incidents, State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan told a Senate panel Thursday.

Pennsylvania finally has a gas impact fee.
And generally speaking, that's a good thing.
The natural gas industry should be paying something for what it is extracting out of the earth in Pennsylvania. And that money needs to be funneled to agencies regulating the industry, environmentally and otherwise, as well as counties and communities hosting the industry.
